Loose Change is a five-piece Penticton dance band, and the important word there is dance.

Matt Berry plays lead acoustic guitar, Rick Van Camp rhythm acoustic and mandolin, Kevin Lamb lead electric, Ed Wilson drums, Rob Tosh bass. All five sing, so the harmonies are real and the arrangements breathe. The set list runs Tom Petty into Brooks & Dunn, Stevie Ray Vaughan into Bruno Mars, rock and country and blues picked on one test only: will people get up for it? At the Naramata Yacht Club’s annual fundraising dance, a night the club bills as one of the best small town dances in the Okanagan, Loose Change is the reason the floor never empties.

Which brings us to the ground rules. This is not a sit-down listening night. The chairs move back, the floor opens up, and dancing is strongly encouraged. By the second set it may be required.

There is one more thing worth saying plainly. Getting The Dream’s doors open took borrowing, and the room is carrying that debt now.

This night is aimed straight at it. The band is donating their evening, and every dollar from ticket sales goes back to the Dream Society to pay the room down. Come out, wear shoes you can move in, and bring the people you like dancing with. A packed floor is the fastest way to get this place free and clear.
