There’s a word for what happens when Kuja takes the stage, and it isn’t “concert” — it’s closer to a celebration. This Penticton-based collective plays Celtic music the way it was always meant to be heard: loud, joyful, and impossible to sit still through.

At the heart of it are Fahlon Palm (fiddle, viola) and Blake Palm (guitar), two conservatory-trained musicians who met earning their degrees at the University of Victoria before planting roots in the Okanagan. Around that duo they gather some of the valley’s finest players, turning every show into a living, breathing jam where no two nights land the same. Their sound is a spirited fusion of Celtic, Métis, and pop — traditional jigs and reels cracked open and rebuilt with contemporary swing and an improviser’s daring. Expect soaring fiddle, driving guitar, and tunes from their thirteen-track debut album Kuja, alongside beloved standards like “Skye Boat Song” and barn-burning reels that dare you to keep your feet still.

Between them, the Palms carry résumés spanning cross-Canada tours, major festival stages, and award-winning performances with some of the country’s top musicians. But it’s the room they build that lingers — warm, unguarded, and grinning from the first downbeat.
