Some bands are built. Triology was born — on a single night in 2008, when three of Canada’s finest jazz musicians came together to honour the late Oscar Peterson. What was meant to be a one-off tribute turned into something none of them could walk away from, and fifteen years later the magic has only deepened.

Bassist Jodi Proznick, pianist Miles Black, and guitarist Bill Coon bring a combined résumé that reads like a who’s-who of Canadian jazz: JUNO nominations, National Jazz Awards, and stages shared with legends like George Coleman, Max Roach, and Clark Terry. But titles tell only half the story. What you’ll hear on The Dream’s intimate stage is pure chemistry — three master players listening, answering, and finishing each other’s musical sentences in real time.

They call it “Joyful Jazz for the Masses,” and it’s exactly that: warm, swinging, and effortlessly elegant, reminiscent of the golden-era trios of Nat King Cole and Oscar Peterson. Expect timeless standards reimagined, original compositions from their latest album The Slow Road, and the kind of spontaneous, in-the-moment improvisation that can only happen live.

This is jazz at its most human — no setlist can fully predict where the night will go, and that’s the whole point.
